Dr Martens asked me to illustrate an artwork that would be displayed in the new Dr Martens store in Eindhoven. Being from Eindhoven myself they wanted a local artist to make the artwork and implement elements from the city into the artwork.
They wanted to demonstrate the authentic history, music connections and cultural relevance within each city, and champion the brand’s unprecedented cultural relevance through involvement with social tribes and music. They wanted to celebrate local people, movements and organisations who stand for something. We want to celebrate Eindhoven and the Netherlands as a whole.
